Mathematical Statistical Physics School, May 10-21 2027, Les Houches, France
A Mathematical Statistical Physics School will be held in the École de Physique des Houches, France, from 10 to 21 May 2027. Following the Mathematical Statistical Physics schools organized in Les Houches in 1984 and 2005, this new edition will cover recent advances, over a broad range of topics. These include random geometry and conformal invariance, Kosterlitz–Thouless transitions and height models, disordered systems and spin glasses, graphs and combinatorics, non-equilibrium dynamics, ecology and evolution, sandpiles and cellular automata. The school is primarily intended for doctoral students, post-docs, and young researchers interested in these topics, although applications from more experienced researchers will also be considered. Special Session on Stochastic Thermodynamics at UPoN 2026, Messina, Italy, 8-11 September 2026
The conference as a whole is dedicated to noise and fluctuations in physical systems, and brings yearly about 40 to 50 researchers from physics, electronics, chemistry, biology, etc. The conference will include this year a special session on stochastic thermodynamics, theory that aims to extend the laws of conventional thermodynamics to situations in which random fluctuations are non-negligible, both in and out of equilibrium. A plenary talk given by Prof. Massimiliano Esposito is already planned. We are calling for contributions in the form of oral presentations of about 20 minutes based on an abstract submission. The content of the talk is quite free as long as it involves stochastic thermodynamics and it may be based on existing publications. Prospective speakers are invited to contact us. Please note that speakers must cover their own expenses.

John Bell Institute for the Foundations of Physics Summer School to be held at the MedILS facility in Split, Croatia from August 17 to August 28, 2026.
The topic will be Space and Time. The first aim of the summer school is both to introduce standard space-time theories, including classical Newtonian Absolute Space and Time, Neo-Newtonian Space-time, Special Relativity and General Relativity in a rigorous but highly conceptual manner. We will also touch on more speculative topics such as quantum influences on/aspects of space-time structure and experimental investigations that bear on the structure of space and time, as well as radically different approaches such as discrete space-time geometries. There will be presentations of the mathematics (such as differential geometry) required for framing accounts of space-time geometry.

The school will explore how living and synthetic active matter communicate, coordinate, and make decisions through physical, chemical, and informational cues. Moving beyond contact and hydrodynamic interactions, the program will focus on chemical communication, quorum sensing, and informed active matter—three paradigms that link physics, chemistry, and biology. Special emphasis will be placed on how chemical signaling shapes collective motion, how cell populations self-organize through density-dependent feedback, and how agents harness environmental information to optimize their behavior. By bridging active matter physics with biological regulation, the school aims to reveal new principles of organization in complex, living-like systems. The application (pre-registration) deadline is the end of February 2026. Applications should include an abstract of the proposed presentation, a recommendation letter, a CV, and a letter of motivation.

23rd International Conference on Recent Progress in Many-Body Theories, “RPMBT-23”, to be held in Milan (Italy), September 14-18, 2026.

The RPMBT conference series (https://rpmbt.physics.indiana.edu) is intended to cover in a broad fashion the theoretical tools developed to tackle the quantum many-body problem together with their major fields of application. One of the main aims of the series is to foster the exchange of ideas and techniques among scientists working in the diverse areas of many-body physics.
The RPBMT-23 will present the Feenberg Medal Award, for firmly established work that has significantly advanced the field of many-body physics, and the Hermann Kümmel Early Achievement Award, to encourage and reward excellence in the field of quantum many-body theory for researchers within a period of 6 years form their PhD. The deadline for nominating candidates is 15 April 2026 and information is available at https://rpmbt.physics.indiana.edu.
The RPMBT-23 will be preceded by a 3-day School on Quantum Simulation, on Sept. 9-11, 2026, also open to students (Master, PhD and postdoc) attending the conference.
