Quantitative complexity economics: A revolution in the making
Mainstream economic theory follows a standard template that I will review in this talk. Complexity economics challenges this by building economic models from the bottom up, using assumptions based on bounded rationality and making use of computer simulation. Until recently complexity economics was largely qualitative, but in the past decade or so testable, quantitative models have appeared that are challenging the mainstream in prediction and policy analysis. I will also make some remarks how AI can be used in complexity economics, but why it cannot be done with AI alone.
