“Directions in Active Matter”
Active matter is made of particles steadily supplied with free energy that they turn into work. Living matter is active, but so are many artificial energy-converting systems. After a brief introduction, my talk will present a tour of recent work with my students and colleagues. Topics covered will include flocks in fluids with and without inertia, and manifestations of non-mutual interactions. I will end with remarks about future directions.
