The jamming transition is a non-equilibrium zero-temperature dynamical phase transition, which separates floppy and rigid states of soft repulsive spheres. It also corresponds to the capacity transition of a data classifier in supervised learning. I will describe recent progress that has been made in a first-principle description of this transition, based on the replica symmetry breaking idea. In particular, I will describe the calculation of the critical exponents.
