Domain wall fluctuations of the six-vertex model at the ice point
The six-vertex model can be viewed as a statistical mechanics model of a two-dimensional random surface. One physical realization is a crystal embedded in three-space. In the talk I will focus on domain wall boundary conditions, which force a crystal shape consisting of facets and rounded regions. Despite integrability of the six-vertex model, many details still require further efforts. Besides a general overview I will report on facet edge fluctuations of the model at its ice point (all allowed vertex configurations have the same weight). This is joint work with Michael Praehofer.
