Phase transitions for spin systems with bond disorder

This talk will review  Ising and XY models with bond disorder. Disorder may affect  critical exponents and possibly destroy  the magnetized phase.  However, for a special form of disorder (due to Nishimori)  we give new proof of phase transitions in 3 dimensions. This is joint work with C. Garban (JMP 22). It relies on "Group Synchronization on Grids" by Abbe et al.
