Particle scattering and fusion for the Ablowitz-Ladik chain.
The Ablowitz-Ladik chain is an integrable disretization of the defocusing nonlinear Schroedinger equation in one dimension. The generalised free energy of the model has been obtained in prior work. Here we report on an underlying hamiltonian particle dynamics, for which the N-particle scattering shift is the sum of two-particle shifts. To our surprise, scattered particles do form bound pairs. As anticipated by analogy, the shift reappears in the free energy. This is joint work with Alberto Brollo.
