Fisher information and Boltzmann collisions
Theorem: Collisions in Boltzmann's equation tend to decrease Fisher's information, in any dimension and for all realistic interactions. That discovery concludes with full generality a direction of research initiated sixty years ago by Henry P. McKean, unveils a new property in statistical physics and allows to control, at last, collisions for very soft potentials, bringing to a full picture the spatially homogeneous program initiated a century ago by Torsten Carleman. This is joint work with Cyril Imbert and Luis Silvestre.
