The Erdős Center (Budapest, Hungary) will host the Simons Semester titled:

"New Directions in Modern Harmonic Analysis and Applications" - Spring 2026 (January to June).

The semester will focus on the intersections between modern harmonic analysis, number theory, and arithmetic and geometric Ramsey theory, all of which continue to evolve. Over the past 20 years, there have been significant advances in these fields, leading to the resolution of longstanding conjectures. The goal of this event is to promote further interaction between these areas by highlighting methods of discrete, classical, and higher-order Fourier analysis that drive these interactions.

As part of this semester, four events will be held:

  1. Summer School on Discrete Harmonic Analysis and Analytic Number Theory (May 11 to May 15, 2026):
    https://site.pheedloop.com/event/summerschooldiscreteharmonicanalysisandanalyticnumbertheory/home
  2. Workshop on Discrete Harmonic Analysis and Analytic Number Theory (May 18 to May 22, 2026):

Short for “Interdisciplinary Challenges in the physics of complexity and life”. Happening in Cargese (Corsica) from 20th to 24th April 2026. Website: https://intcha26.sciencesconf.org/IntCha is a self-organizing conference format by young researchers for young researchers (senior grad students, postdocs, early PIs), with the idea that interdisciplinary connections built in this critical stage of scientific life. As such the target audience is quite broadly young researcher in “biophysics” and "statistical physics",  ideally covering much of the broad spectrum of what that word can mean. The 2026 meeting will be the 7th incarnation of this format, with recent ones having been held in Edinburgh (2022), Rome (2023), Dresden (2024), and Heidelberg (2025).

Nonlinear Network Dynamics: Complexity and Control Conference on the Occasion of the 75th Birthday of Eckehard Schöll, Berlin, May 4–6, 2026

Nonlinear dynamics and complex collective behavior is a widespread phenomenon occurring in dynamical networks of nonlinear oscillators in a variety of natural and technological systems. Dynamical network theory deals with systems composed of many subsystems like atoms, photons, cells, neurons, etc., and shows that cooperation of the subsystems leads to complex spatial, temporal, or functional structures by self-organization. An important aim is to control the dynamics and steer it to a desired state. For further information and registration please see the website: https://doocn.org/

NHOMOGENEOUS RANDOM SYSTEMS

Systemes Aleatoires Inhomogenes

January 27-28, 2026

Institut Henri Poincare 11-13, rue Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris

The aim of this annual workshop is to bring together mathematicians and physicists working on disordered or random
systems, and to discuss recent developments on themes of
common interest. Each of the two days is devoted to a
specific topic; the 2026
session is planned as follows.

Tuesday 27 January:
2D STATISTICAL MECHANICS: CONTINUUM AND DISCRETE.
Moderator: Piet Lammers (Paris).

In recent years, there has been remarkable progress in the study of two-dimensional statistical mechanics. Increasingly, deep connections are emerging between discrete models and their continuous counterparts, offering new perspectives and tools to tackle longstanding problems.
The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers working on these developments across both the discrete and continuous settings. By fostering dialogue between different communities and across career stages, the day aims to promote the exchange of ideas, strengthen connections, and highlight exciting directions for future research.

Speakers: Rob Van den Berg (Amsterdam)(*), Joseph Chen (Paris), Barbara Dembin (Strasbourg), Trishen Gunaratnam (Mumbai and Bengaluru), Leonie Papon (Wien), Eveliina Peltola (Aalto and Bonn), Remi Rhodes (Marseille).
(*) To be confirmed.
Wednesday 28 January:
NON-EQUILIBRIUM AND DISORDERED INTERFACES. Moderator: Leonie Canet (Grenoble)

Stochastic interfaces arise in many different contexts, from
condensed matter to hydrodynamics or ecology. They exhibit remarkable features, such as non-equilibrium scaling, non-Gaussian fluctuations, pattern formation and intermittency. In the presence of disorder, other interesting phenomena arise, from depinning to crumpling, including creeping dynamics and avalanches. Some of these aspects are theoretically understood and characterised, while others remain very challenging. The aim of this meeting is to bring together experts from different areas to give an overview of the recent advances in this field, and to spark fruitful exchanges.
Speakers: Jeremie Bec (Nice), Rodolfo Cuerno (Leganes), Vivien Lecomte (Grenoble), Amos Maritan (Padova), Dominique Mouhanna (Paris), Alberto Rosso (Orsay), Stephane Santucci (Lyon).

The conference is free and open to all. To facilitate local organization, please register in advance by sending an e-mail to:
