“Analogies and differences between equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics of classical systems”

Stationary states are the natural generalisation of equilibrium states in a non-equilibrium situation. After the seminal paper of Oono and Paniconi (1998) introducing the idea of housekeeping heat, that is the energy necessary to keep a system out of equilibrium, some analogies have been noted by various authors in the thermodynamics of the two cases.  In this talk I will discuss related aspects and problems.
